The Bobangi language, or Bangi, is the main verbal source of the Lingala language spoken in central Africa. Dialects of the language are spoken on both sides of the Ubangi and Congo Rivers. Lingala is a Bantu language spoken throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to some degree Angola. The Bangala, or “river people”, lived and traded along the Congo River and the trade language of the river was Bobangi (Bangi). When selecting a tradition Bantu or Lingala baby name be sure to do a bit of research regarding the meaning, as that may change from region to region within Africa’s continent.
