Zuni Baby Names & Zuni Names
Zuni is the language of the Zuni people indigenous to western New Mexico and eastern Arizona in the United States. Zuni is spoken by around 9,500 people, especially in the region of Zuni Pueblo, New Mexico, and in much smaller numbers in parts of Arizona. Zuni is still spoken by a significant number of children and, unlike most indigenous languages in the US, is comparatively less threatened by language endangerment. In 1994, it was reported that among the Zuni people Zuni is still the primary means of communication in the pueblo and used almost exclusively in Zuni homes. Zuni is considered to be a language isolate and may have become a distinct language well over 7,000 years ago. Baby Name World maintains a list of accurate Zuni baby names and name meanings for visitors interested in traditional Native American names.
